Today’s Scripture
“And let the beauty of the LORD our God be upon us: and establish thou the work of our hands upon us; yea, the work of our hands establish thou it.” — Psalm 90:17, KJV
A reflection for moms
Some of a mother’s work is visible, and much of it is ordinary: preparing, noticing, listening, cleaning, teaching, correcting, and beginning again. Psalm 90:17 is a prayer that God would establish the work of our hands. It does not say that our worth comes from finishing everything or that every task will be noticed by other people. We can ask God to make our labor fruitful while remembering that His love is not earned by productivity.
Today, let this be a prayer for faithfulness rather than perfection. The goal is not to turn a full day into proof that you are a good mom. Receive God’s mercy, ask for wisdom about what matters most, and let some nonessential things wait. If the work feels too heavy to carry alone, asking another person for help can be one wise step.
One practical kingdom-work action
Choose one ordinary task in front of you—prepare a meal, answer a child with patience, put away a small group of essentials, or make a needed phone call. Before starting, pause for one sentence of prayer. If another family member can appropriately share the task, invite them in. When it is done, let it be enough for this moment; you do not need to add three more tasks to prove its value.
A prayer for moms
Lord, establish the work of our hands today. Give us wisdom to notice what matters and grace to release what can wait. Bless the quiet work that serves our families, and help us receive support when the load is too much. Let our words be gentle, our choices be guided by Your truth, and our hearts remember that we are loved by You before the work begins. In Jesus’ name, amen.
